JAIPUR- An introduction
Jaipur is capital and largest city of Rajasthan state in northwestern
area of India.
Jaipur is also known as the pink city. Jaipur was founded by the great
warrior-astronomer Maharaja Jai Singh II (1693–1743). The Amber
Palace/Fort, which defends the entrance into the city of Jaipur, often
referred to as the Pink city. The pink color was used at the time of
making to create an impression of red sandstone buildings of Mughal
cities - and repainted in 1876, during the visit of the Prince of Wales.
And that's why this city is known popularly as Pink city all over the
world
GEOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION
Geographical area of Jaipur district is 11117.8 Sqr.Km. Total number of
villages is 2315. It is situated in the east of Rajasthan state. In the
North of it Sikar, Mahendragarh district (State Haryana), In the South
Tonk, In the East Alwar, Dausa, Sawai Madhopur, and In the West Nagaur,
Ajmer district situated. East and North area of Jaipur district is
sarrounded by Arawali hills.
